I was in Microsoft Building 121 today for a meeting and decided to find some vegan fare in the cafeteria. I've eaten many a meal at Cafe 121 and can say that for a cafeteria their food is really good. They have a wide variety of food to choose from and most of it is tasty. They even have a vegetarian/vegan section.
Unfortunately there wasn't anything in the vegetarian section I really wanted to eat. For some reason, everything had nuts in it (I hate nuts). The salad bar was one option, but honestly everything I like eating on a salad is an animal product (cream-based dressing, cheese, bacon bits, etc). I decided to go for the pre-packaged sushi option. They have several varieties of sushi in trays, including one labeled "Vegetable Sushi". I looked through the ingredients carefully and saw no meat of any kind, it was definitely labeled as a vegetarian product.
I was working on my computer while I ate. The first piece of sushi tasted alright, mostly cucumber and tiny carrot. The next piece I put in my mouth had an unmistakable taste: crab. Actually it was probably imitation crab, but that's not vegan-kosher anyway. I spat it out into a napkin and brought Raazi over to witness the obvious deception and trickery.
The middle row of vegetarian sushi had been replaced by a different kind of sushi, apparently by mistake. Here's an artist's rendering:

I went back into the cafe and verifed that the other vegetarian sushis were packaged correctly with three rows of the veggie rolls. Clearly I'm the victim of some kind of conspiracy trying to trick me into failing the challenge. I suspect Greg Long, who later tried to weasel out of the bet saying I had "cheated" by biting into (but not swallowing) a tiny piece of fake crab. I'm not saying that he planted the sushi in the first place, but I wouldn't put it outside the realm of the possibility. He could have planted walnuts all over the vegetarian station knowing that it would force me to go for the sushi bar. I'll let you, faithful readers, be the judge.
